Overview
Ortega method is the easiest speedsolving method for 2x2. It involves three steps:
- Solving the D face intuitively.
- OLL (Orientation of last layer) (7 algs)
- PBL (Permutation of both layers) (5 algs)
OLL
Case | OLL | Algorithms | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
1 |

PBL
PBLs can easily be recognized by the number of bars on the top and bottom layers without referring to any images.
Case (Top/Bottom) | PBL | Algorithms | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Bar/Bar | - | R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2 | |
Bar/None | - | R U' R F2 R' U R' | |
None/None | - | R2 F2 R2 | |
Bar/Solved | - | y (R U R' U') (R' F R2 U') R' U' (R U R' F') | T perm from CFOP |
None/Solved | - | F (R U' R' U') (R U R' F') (R U R' U') (R' F R F') | Y perm from CFOP |
